The talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free, open to the community, and hosted by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Anderson, SC.

“What is it that makes healing sometimes seem so hard? One of the things is fear, and yet there is a way out of fear through understanding God’s nature and our relationship to God.” Kneeland explains, “the beauty of understanding God’s loving relationship is that it’s not compartmentalized. It benefits every aspect of our life, and it has wonderful side effects.”

Sharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science, Kneeland will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.

Kneeland will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy, who came to understand, confirm, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand, “He that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible).

For over 150 years, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties.

Ann Kneeland has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years, helping people on a daily basis through this scientific approach to prayer. She travels from her home base in San Rafael, California to speak to audiences around the world as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Growing up in a family that loved and practiced Christian Science, Ann saw how God heals sickness and relationship problems, meets financial needs, solves business issues, and answers life’s questions. In the Christian Science Sunday School, Ann learned to rely upon the healing ideas in the Bible, as explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. During her school years, the ideas in these books healed Ann of headaches, sickness, a wart, a rash, sports injuries, and academic anxieties.

After college, Ann took Primary Class instruction to deepen her understanding of God and to learn to heal more systematically. This understanding guided her in a business career and brought healing solutions to difficult issues. When she and her husband began a family, Christian Science was a daily help in navigating parenthood, and in caring for their two children’s health and growth. Friends asked for prayerful treatment and were healed. She began advertising her healing practice in the Christian Science Journal in 2009.

Ann resides in the San Francisco Bay area of California. In her healing practice, she discovers more about God and our loving relationship to God, and simultaneously others are healed, and lives are transformed. Ann has been a Chaplain in the Marin County Jail, and has shared Christian Science in commercial radio interviews and with teen and interfaith groups. She loves how sharing Christian Science demands listening to God while speaking from the heart.
